Introducing Dr. Geri Lake-Bakaar
Dr. Geri Lake-Bakaar, a residency trained veterinary cardiologist, joined our Boulder practice in August, 2013. She graduated from Harvard University in 2003 with a BA in Biology, and received her DVM degree from Cornell University in 2007. She then completed a rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the Animal Medical Center in New York City. Following the internship, she worked in a Cardiovascular Research Laboratory at Harvard/MGH, and in private practice as an Emergency veterinarian until 2010. She completed her cardiology residency at the University of California, Davis in July 2013.
Dr. Lake-Bakaar is thrilled to be in Colorado with her two dogs. She is an avid runner, long distance triathlete, and competitor, and looks forward to taking advantage of the many wonderful outdoor opportunities Colorado offers.
She joins Dr. Karen Sanderson and Dr. Curt Rehling (cardiology resident) at Alpenglow in Boulder. Dr. Lake-Bakaar sees patients Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday each week. Introducing Dr. Jeremy Orr and Saturday Hours at VRCC
RMVC welcomes Dr. Jeremy Orr to our practice at VRCC in Denver. He is a board certified veterinary cardiologist and comes to us from a busy, multi-specialty practice in Chicago.
With the addition of Dr. Orr, RMVC now offer Saturday appointments at our VRCC location in Denver. We are Colorado’s only veterinary cardiology practice to offer Saturday appointments on a non-emergency basis.
Dr. Orr sees patients between 9am and 4pm every Saturday, and is available for scheduled appointments, emergencies, and consultations with referring veterinarians. In addition, he sees patients three days during the week.

RMVC expands to Colorado Springs
Beginning January 9, 2013, Rocky Mountain Veterinary Cardiology (RMVC) will now be available to see patients in Colorado Springs on a weekly basis. Dr. Julie Martin sees patients every other Wednesday at Animal Emergency Care Center North (Nevada Avenue). Additionally, Doctors Karen Sanderson and Carrie Ginieczki will see patients at family veterinarian’s offices through RMVC’s mobile practice on alternating Wednesdays.
In all locations, RMVC’s board-certified cardiologists offer the following services: physical exam & consultation, 6 lead electrocardiography, echocardiography (cardiac ultrasound), digital Holter analysis, event monitoring, radiography interpretation, and labwork interpretation.
All appointments are scheduled through RMVC’s Denver office (VRCC) at 303.874.2094.
RMVC acquires cardiology practice at VRCC
In August, Rocky Mountain Veterinary Cardiology (RMVC) expanded its services to the Veterinary Referral Center of Colorado (VRCC)in Denver.
Operated by Dr. Carroll Loyer over the last 15 years as Veterinary Heart and Lung Specialists out of VRCC, RMVC acquired this practice and has maintained the cardiology team and operation at VRCC.
With this acquisition, RMVC now offers specialized services at two locations – Alpenglow Veterinary Specialty + Emergency Center (AVSEC) in Boulder and at VRCC in Denver — to meet the needs of Colorado veterinary cardiac patients and their guardians.
